I had such a great time photographing Madeline and Nicholas’ engagement session! The original plan was to have the session at their wedding venue, but when we arrived, we found out it was closed for remodeling. Fortunately, they were quick to adjust and thanks to Nick, we ended up at Ancil Hoffman Park, not too far away.
As soon as we arrived, I could tell this location was going to work out perfectly. The park was filled with tall trees and lush greenery, which gave us a variety of beautiful natural backdrops to work with. We started walking the trails and taking photos as we explored. Their relaxed energy made it easy to get a mix of candid and posed shots that really reflect their connection.
About halfway through the session, they changed into a second outfit. The light was beginning to shift into golden hour, and the setting sun filtered beautifully through the trees, giving us that soft, warm glow that adds so much to outdoor portraits. The second half of the session felt even more relaxed as we focused on capturing those quiet, genuine moments between the two of them.
One of the things that made this session stand out was their flexibility and easygoing nature. What started as a bit of a curveball turned into a perfect afternoon. Sometimes the unexpected changes lead to the best outcomes, and that definitely felt like the case here.
Looking forward to photographing their wedding day and continuing to document their story!
